Description
This workshop led by No More Exclusions interrogates how the education system is distressing to many young people. From securitisation, to policing, to punitive school policies, this session explores the harms of our current system, and asks how we might build nurturing and loving alternatives. What would healthy and life-affirming education look like – particularly a form that supports the most marginalised? How could school transform from a space of punishment to one of safety, dignity and wholeness?
We will also be exploring how to manifest solidarity with Palestinian freedom in education spaces – as young people and as educators – committed to collective liberation.

Biography
No More Exclusions (NME) is a Black-led anti-racist organisation working to build an abolitionist grassroots movement in education. Their coalition includes young people, parents, parent advocates, teachers, teaching assistants, trade unionists, social workers, lawyers, youth workers, faith leaders, local councillors, journalists, academics, education researchers, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) specialists, psychologists and mental health practitioners.
