This workshop by Critical Youth Sound System Protest intends to strengthen and share the tool of sound for resistance. The workshop will be build on legacies of protest music, chants, poetry and sound system culture through exploring how these help access healing, belonging and autonomy. Protest and and party are the rituals that embody rehearsal. Through the practice of moving our bodies, amplifying sound, it is possible to imagine new futures. What we collectively create from our workshop, the sound, the chants and the rhythms, will be used in future protests and raves. This rehearsal is not just about practice, but creating action that builds on existing legacies of resistance. Join this exploration of sound, chants, rhythm and rhymes to ask ourselves, our peers, comrades and elders; how can sound be leveraged to write the narratives of the struggle?
