Description
** This event has been postponed! We will contact all participants directly.
In this workshop led by Hil Aked, participants will rehearse the liberatory potential – and limitations – of using freedom of information requests to empower ourselves with knowledge. Participants will discuss the politics of knowledge and power and information asymmetries between communities and the state. They will also learn practical skills for trying to start redressing that balance. There will be a skillshare element and an interactive element where these skills will be collectively applied to hypothetical case studies. Participants will leave with a greater confidence and capacity to challenge oppression in the form of state secrecy and opacity, part of paving the way for more openness, transparency and freedom.
If you require additional access measures to enable your participation, including BSL interpretation please email info@healingjusticeldn.org. Inline with our commitment to disability justice, we will try to accommodate as much as possible.
