Description
Meditations on Red (Edition II) is a workshop led by Maia Magoga about collective dreaming, communal nourishment, and synchronising our heartbeats. This workshop will explore food as a love language and as a site of alchemical transformation. This communally prepared and shared ritual meal will offer poetic exploration and expansion in various forms; a shared reading, dreaming, alchemy, a ceremonial meal, and a meditation. The meal will consist of (red) foods, which we will prepare in our session, known for their heart-opening abilities. Participants will be asking themselves how they can tend to their own and each other’s hearts by enacting specific rituals and practices that embrace its rage, tenderness and healing potentials.
If you require additional access measures to enable your participation, including BSL interpretation please email info@healingjusticeldn.org. Inline with our commitment to disability justice, we will try to accommodate as much as possible.

Biography
Maia Magoga is an artist, cook and educator who works primarily with food as both subject and object. She is interested in the social and ecological dimensions of food; and the ways in which it connects communities while also shaping the landscapes around us. She considers food to be her love language: a ritual tool for sharing magic, and a space for collective healing. She co-founded gobyfish collective in 2019, an artists’ cooking collective that hosts conceptual meals and experimental offerings which foreground seasonal, foraged and medicinal foods.
